Planting the Seeds for Digital Innovation

At CVS Health, everything we do is aimed at helping people on their path to better health, and digital technologies are a powerful way to achieve this. More than 86 percent of the population is connected online1, and two in three Americans are smartphone owners2. By harnessing the power of digital technology we can meet our customers where they are, and we can offer them the tools to better manage their health care needs.

Over the past several years, we have focused on developing cutting-edge digital services and personalized capabilities, including top-rated pharmacy apps, text messaging notifications and reminders, and in-store personalized alerts and coupons. But this is only the beginning. We’re doubling our investment in digital to bring even more functionality and convenience to our customers.

To bring this vision to life, we opened the Boston Digital Innovation Lab, a hub for our rapidly growing CVS Health Digital team that will be focused on developing cutting-edge digital services and personalized capabilities across the pharmacy care spectrum. Specifically, the team will focus on mobile, personalization, multi-channel e-commerce, connected health and digital therapeutics.

CVS Health Opens Digital Innovation Lab in Boston

The new facility, which will eventually be home to about 100 CVS Health colleagues, complements the work being done in our existing Digital Experience Center at our corporate headquarters in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.  We chose a space in Boston’s Back Bay area because of the digital and health care innovation already taking place there, its reputation as an intellectual leader and its proximity to world-class medical institutions and top-notch universities and colleges.

“The Lab will embody our digital team’s mission to run like a startup, accelerating speed-to-market of and impact from digital innovation across the enterprise, by using resources to rapidly test, fail, learn and succeed,” says CVS Health Chief Digital Officer Brian Tilzer. “Ultimately the lab will help achieve our goal of creating a ‘connected’ health experience that makes it radically easier for people to save time and money – and stay healthy – using CVS Health’s unique assets when, where and how they want.”
