Accessible, convenient care
CVS Health® is working to address common barriers to achieving optimal health — starting with the cost and complexity of the modern health care system. By enabling people to manage their health more conveniently, and with the care and coverage they need, we’re reshaping the industry.
Eighty-five percent of Americans live within 10 miles of a CVS Pharmacy® location. Our colleagues serve millions of people each day to help ensure access to important pharmacy services, including in underserved communities.
We believe primary care is a key element in addressing health care accessibility and cost challenges. We’ve expanded primary care services at select MinuteClinic® locations by working with payors and health systems to offer MinuteClinic as an in-network primary care provider.
Trust in local pharmacists remains high with 88% of consumers regarding their pharmacists as the most accessible and frequently visited health care provider. We’ve built on that trust and credibility by providing easier access to a broader range of care. Our pharmacists now provide additional vaccination services, prescribe certain medications where permissible by law and deliver comprehensive medical reviews with direct outreach to patients.
~5M daily customer interactions across CVS Health locations
29.9M vaccines administered in 2024
7 in 10 Americans prefer pharmacies for their health care needs due to convenient locations with evening and weekend hours
With our integrated businesses and commitment to value-based care, we have an opportunity to dramatically transform and improve health care for older adults. Signify Health® licensed clinicians provide in-home health evaluations and services designed to support earlier detection, diagnosis and management of the most prevalent medical conditions. Clinicians spend on average 2.5 times longer in the home than a typical in-office doctor’s appointment. They also screen for environmental risks and hazards and provide referrals to primary care providers and specialists. In 2024, Signify clinicians:
Performed 3.2M in-home evaluations
Impacted more than 12M quality care gaps
Made nearly 500K case management referrals
Oak Street Health® has more than 230 clinics across 27 states that provide advanced primary care services to approximately 500,000 patients. Each patient’s care is managed by a multidisciplinary team, including primary care providers, behavioral health specialists, community health workers and medical social workers. Through CVS Virtual Care® and MinuteClinic Virtual Care®, we provide convenient access to clinicians to help patients manage chronic conditions, mental health and common illnesses. In 2024, we completed ~350,000 virtual care visits through our direct-to-consumer and business-to-business virtual care programs, inclusive of mental health.
Our redesigned CVS Health app removes pain points for over 14 million users a month by seamlessly bringing the services and information they need across our businesses — all in one place. Customers can manage their health benefits and prescriptions for their entire family, get real-time order status and find a complete overview of their out-of-pocket costs. They can also schedule in-person and virtual MinuteClinic appointments, and review their lab results and visit histories.
We are also transforming our day-to-day operations with technology-enabled solutions to further improve the member and patient experience. Our clinicians — from Aetna nurse care managers to Oak Street Health providers — use artificial intelligence (AI) for tasks like case research or visit summaries, so they can spend more time engaging with members and patients.

- 40% reduction in Aetna care manager case preparation time with the use of AI
- 77% of Oak Street Health provider survey respondents who used AI-assisted scribe capabilities reported a reduction in notetaking time

More personalized, holistic experiences
No two people have the same health journey. Well-being is shaped by individual needs, priorities, lifestyle and environment. That’s why CVS Health takes a more personalized, holistic approach — ensuring care and support that evolves with the patient. We help consumers stay ahead of health challenges and make more informed choices that lead to better health outcomes.
We use evidence-based, data-driven insights to deliver a more tailored and effective member experience. Across our businesses, we provide health-focused, proactive recommendations based on individual needs and preferences — through the phone, mail, text, online and in-person. Whether we are educating a member about a local, in-network lab for an upcoming blood draw, or providing information and resources to help a patient avoid a preventable health complication following a procedure, these next best actions lead to higher engagement and improved health outcomes.

On our journey to provide personalized, high-quality and convenient care to all, we understand that women’s health needs are unique. That’s why we are providing access to services and resources to help women over their lifespan, while addressing the social and environmental challenges they encounter. We are bringing attention and resources to women’s health conditions, including mental health, reproductive, maternal and heart health, menopause and healthy aging.
Maternal mental health
Maternal mental health conditions are the single largest complication of pregnancy and childbirth.
Select MinuteClinic locations offer virtual and in-person counseling by practitioners trained in maternal mental health by Postpartum Support International.
In partnership with the Maternal Mental Health Leadership Alliance, we are supporting the advancement of provider education through the launch of the Perinatal Mental Health Training Database.
Through Aetna®, we are advancing screening initiatives to educate members and connect them with maternal mental health resources.
Menopause care
Select MinuteClinic® locations offer virtual and in-person menopause services, available with or without insurance. To ensure the highest quality care, our MinuteClinic practitioners have received specialized training from The Menopause Society.
Our ActiveHealth® Lifestyle and Condition Coaching program includes menopause individual and group coaching offered by health coaches who have completed training from The Menopause Society.
Aetna was the first national carrier to offer virtual menopause specialists in the network.
Family building possibilities
In 2024, Aetna became the first major insurer to begin offering intrauterine insemination (IUI) as a medical benefit available on all eligible plans. Learn more about Aetna’s landmark policy change.
Reproductive health
Over 19 million women in the U.S. live in geographies without the full range of contraceptive and other important services that support maternal and family health. MinuteClinic provides virtualcontraceptive services in 48 states plus Washington, D.C., closing these access gaps significantly. CVS Pharmacy locations also provide access to contraceptive services.
Extreme weather poses a threat to the health of our patients and members. For example, people with cardiovascular, kidney and respiratory conditions are at risk for complications during heat waves. Poor air quality poses a threat for patients with lung disease and other chronic conditions.
That’s why in 2024, we launched a first-of-its kind initiative to support patients who are most vulnerable to the health impacts of extreme weather. We use advanced environmental data analytics to contact at-risk patients and provide personalized recommendations.
