CVS Health reaches 10,000 communities across America, enabling us to bring low-cost health care services, medication counseling and chronic disease support to within just a few miles of most Americans, helping make care more convenient and affordable.
More than 100 million Americans are reached by CVS Health each year through an integrated suite of assets that includes retail pharmacy, pharmacy benefit management, retail clinics, specialty pharmacy, infusion services, clinical programs and long-term care pharmacy. This deep level of clinical expertise allows us to partner broadly across the health care system and meet patients where they are with the care they need. For example, Pharmacy Advisor has delivered more than 10 million personalized counseling interventions for CVS Caremark plan members, improving health outcomes and reducing costs for those managing chronic conditions.
Supporting Communities and the Economy
Our commitment to better health extends beyond our pharmacies and health care services. As part of our efforts, we have invested $50 million to help deliver the nation’s first tobacco-free generation. We also provide charitable contributions and in-kind donations and support employee giving and in-store fundraising, all of which totaled $90 million in 2016 alone.
And as one of the country’s largest employers, we play an important role supporting the nation’s economy. We employ roughly 250,000 colleagues in 49 states – including 36,000 health care practitioners – at our pharmacies, infusion centers, distribution centers and corporate offices. Each year we invest $10 billion in employee wages and $1.3 billion in additional employee benefits. In addition, one percent of all corporate taxes in the United States are paid by CVS Health.
