Community Heroes Grant Program $5K Bonus Grant Winner Announced
CVS Health, WPRI and the Pawtucket Red Sox have joined forces for the second year of Community Heroes, a grant program that will provide $55,000 in grants to Rhode Island nonprofits that focus on health care, children, social services and military support.
The following ten nonprofits have been chosen to receive a $5,000 Community Heroes grant. And thanks to your votes via social media, Senior Services Inc. in Woonsocket, RI, has been selected to receive the $5,000 bonus grant to support its Senior Wellness Program! Congratulations to all of our grantees.
Children and Youth
Boys and Girls Club Cumberland/Lincoln, RI
Funds will support the SMART programs for youth, which provide guidance on healthy life decisions.
Heather Abbott Foundation Newport, RI
Funds will provide prosthetics to children who have lost a limb in a traumatic injury.
Lucy’s Hearth Middletown, RI
Funds will support a comprehensive continuum of care for mothers to help them create a nurturing and healthy environment for their children.
Progresso Latino Central Falls, RI
Funds will support nutrition and fitness education for youth in Central Falls.
Reach Out and Read Rhode Island Providence, RI
Funds will go towards building a unique relationship between parents and pediatricians to help improve children’s literacy.
Senior Services Inc. Woonsocket, RI
Funds will support the Senior Wellness Program, which includes information on health promotion and disease prevention, and offers exercise classes.
Tockwotton Home East Providence, RI
Funds will support the Music and Memory program for seniors with Alzheimer’s Disease.
United Methodist Elder Care, East Providence, RI
Funds will help purchase equipment to improve the urological health of seniors.
American Legion Auxiliary Warwick, RI
Funds will support the Veterans Aid and Rehabilitation Program, which provides basic health care services and supplies.
Easter Seals of Rhode Island Middletown, RI
Funds will support a care coordination program for veterans, service members and their families.
