CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare cardholders can receive special discounts on Weight Watchers Meetings
Weight Watchers members receive ExtraBucks® offers
WOONSOCKET, R.I. and NEW YORK, Feb. 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS/pharmacy and Weight Watchers International today announced mutually beneficial rewards for CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare cardholders and Weight Watchers members to encourage and reward people for adopting a healthier lifestyle.
According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), two-thirds of adults in America are overweight or obese. What's more, obesity is the leading cause of Type 2 diabetes and a key factor in other chronic diseases like heart disease and hypertension. According to the NIH and National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), weight loss results in lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar, and improved lipid levels.
ExtraCare cardholders will be given the opportunity to save when they join Weight Watchers meetings, and Weight Watchers members will receive CVS/pharmacy ExtraBucks® offers on health-related items including: blood pressure monitors, blood glucose testing equipment, healthy snacks and more.
"CVS/pharmacy is committed to helping improve the health and lives of our customers, and we're excited to offer discounts for ExtraCare cardholders for a proven weight-loss program like Weight Watchers," said Rob Price, Senior Vice President/Chief Marketing Officer, CVS/pharmacy. "We hope these rewards will help people take the first steps toward better health and further the progress for those who have already begun weight loss efforts."
"We are excited to announce that Weight Watchers members can now benefit from CVS/pharmacy ExtraBucks®," says Betsy Parker, Vice President, Business Development, Weight Watchers North America. "This incentive provides both Weight Watchers members and CVS ExtraCare card members with trusted resources to make healthy living a priority in 2011."
The ExtraCare program rewards customers with 2% back on purchases in ExtraBucks® rewards, and $1.00 ExtraBucks® rewards to spend on front store merchandise for every two prescriptions purchased. ExtraBucks® rewards can be used on nearly anything in the store. Today, CVS/pharmacy ExtraCare is the largest retail loyalty program in the U.S. with more than 66 million active members.
